...Me
Hi there – my name is Michael and I am currently a Senior Software Developer in the Interface Engineering group at Schematic.
Trained as a Jazz and Rock guitarist, I decided to switch gears after school and get into web design and development. Although I’ve been referred to as the Swiss Army Knife by colleagues past for my various geeky exploits, I spend most of my time making web pages work flawlessly and look good doing it. My hands are often dirty with CSS, Javascript, semantic HTML code. I can muster up enough Java or PHP chops when I’m in the right headspace, but I don’t often go too far down that path.
When I’m not being such a nerd, I like to get away from the computer and the crowds of midtown Manhattan and go on a hike, preferably where there are many trees, few people and maybe a moose nearby.
...This Site
This site serves as a portfolio for the work that I’ve done and a repository for a few things that I made over the years. Stay a little while. You may find something interesting.
It was lovingly hand-coded on a Mac using TextMate – the best text/code editor on any platform anywhere, bar none. I use the Textpattern publishing platform to manage and maintain all the content on the site.
Like all groovy sites, it eschews tables for layout purposes in favor of pure XHTML/CSS. Everything should be semantically acceptable and validate to XHTML 1.0 strict.
