Kimili Flash Embed 1.2
05 Feb 07
At long last, Kimili Flash Embed 1.2 is here. This release was a long time coming, and I, for one, am glad it’s finally out the door.
There’s a number of new features that make this one worth grabbing, including:
- SWFs finally get rendered properly (and validly) in your XML/RSS/Atom feeds!
- Improved fvars functionality allow you to use URLs with query strings and JSON objects as parameter values.
- New targetclass attribute allows you to give the elements containing your SWFs a class name
- SWFObject (née FlashObject) Javascript is now updated to the latest version.
For Wordpress users, there’s some extra loving:
- Improved compatibility with other plugins.
- Removed the need to turn off GZIP compression.
- KFE creates valid HTML.
- A Rich Text Editor Toolbar button has been added to quickly insert KFE tags in a post!
As always, you can get the latest version at the Kimili Flash Embed Home.

1.1 worked really nice, but as soon as I installed 1.2 nothing worked anymore, no flash objects shown etc. Would be helpful to know if there’s anything one has to change to the 1.1 syntax to get it to work…

There are no changes to the KFE syntax to get it to work. What browser are you checking with? I’ve come across some strange issues involving IE7, so perhaps that’s what you’re experiencing.
If you have an example URL, either post it here, or email it to me via my contact page.

Hello,

Thanks for that beautiful plugins :-)

I recently updated from v1.1 to v1.2 (for wordpress) but immediately my posts displayed just the code [kml_embed…] rather than the video. This happened in all browsers.
I tried re-uploading but was forced to swap back to v1.1 (it worked immediately).
