Norman Galinsky

normangalinsky.com - Home normangalinsky.com - Portfolio normangalinsky.com - Biography normangalinsky.com - Statement normangalinsky.com - Contact

I recently completed a portfolio site for New York based artist, Norman Galinsky, whose work has been inspired by his background in science and engineering and his ongoing studies of metaphysics and spiritual issues.

During the design process, I worked closely with Mr. Galinsky, who was instrumental in determining the art direction of the site’s design. Because his recent artwork in comprised of of small markings which grow into organic, geometric patterns, we wanted to make sure nothing detracted from the detail in his work. As a result, we opted for a dark palette and a deliberately understated design. Uncommon, yet modern typeface selections compliment the layout and the artwork.

The site is built on a simple PHP back-end. jQuery and a handful of plugins—modified to suit the needs of the site—power the JavaScript in the gallery. The typefaces, Presicav and Edita Web, are provided courtesy of TypeKit.
